Middletown, Pennsylvania — After twelve years under the leadership of Mayor James Curry, the Borough of Middletown will elect a new mayor this year. Mayor Curry announced that his name will not appear on the ballot for mayor in this year’s election, however he is instead campaigning to be elected to Middletown Borough Council.

Curry released a video yesterday highlighting his accomplishments as a young three-term mayor including balancing the budget, and improvements in the police department. Curry empathized that as a borough council member the ability to vote is very powerful, and he would be able to better serve the community if positioned in that capacity.

Seeking a four-year term for Middletown Mayor on the primary ballot in May are Democrats Angela Lloyd and David Scully, and on the Republican ticket is Jared Knaub. Lloyd currently serves on Middletown Borough Council, now in her seventh year after being appointed in 2018.

Scully and Knaub will also both appear on the primary ballots for Borough Council, as well as Curry, incumbent council President Jenny Miller, and an array of new challengers who seek to fill three open seats in this year’s election.
